在拍攝《Rebel Without A Cause》時，James Dean從Porsche356升級至Porsche 550，並決定將這款打造成他獨一無二的愛車。James 還請來在電影汽車界具有名聲的George Barris為他定制這輛保時捷，包括訂造了格子呢的座位，後輪上加上兩條紅色的條紋，引擎蓋、車門上貼著數字「130」。

「Little Bastard」（小混蛋）這個名字是由James 語言導師Bill Hickman所改的，後來由汽車裝飾大師Dean Jeffries 畫上。 在1955年9月23日，James 在一家餐館外面遇到了演員Alec Guinness，並讓Alec看看他的新Spyder。Alec當時告訴James 說：「汽車有一個「sinister」（險惡感）的外觀，如果你進了那輛車，下週這個時候你就會死在這裡。」

James Dean的這輛限量版Porsche 550 Spyder，採用1.5升水平對臥四缸中置引擎，車重約僅550公斤，在6.200轉時可輸出110hp最大馬力，極速約217公里，在當年可是一輛性能極佳的開篷小跑車。

結果七天後，James 不幸在他心愛的「Little Bastard」中喪生。起初人們認為James 是因超速駕駛而引致車禍，但近年英國有研究提出證據，指他車禍那天沒有飆車。

當時與James Dean同坐的機械技工，因傷勢嚴重一直未能落口供，復原後他亦三緘其口，對車禍隻字不提。而多年前他死於另一宗車禍後，誰是誰非已無從稽考。
